Le chanteur et danseur rwandais basé aux USA, Jean Paul Samputu a recémment été reconnu comme Ambassador for Peace par les fédérations “International Federation for World Peace” et la “Universal Peace Federation“.
Samputu a recu son prix à Atlanta le 18 Novembre 2007.
Félicitations donc à Jean Paul Samputu qui est aussi le fondateur de “Mizero Children of Rwanda” une organisation charitative ayant une troupe des jeunes talentueux danceurs rwandais en même temps orphélins.
Ces enfants servent d’ambassadeurs représentant tout les million d’orphélins rwandais à travers le monde.
Jean Paul a vu le jour le 15 mars 1962, il a passé une paisible enfance au Rwanda jusqu’au génocide qui emporta ses parents ainsi que ses 3 frères et soeurs. J.P. est un artiste, auteur, compositeur, chanteur, interprète et producteur. C’est à l’âge de 14 ans qu’un chef de chorale a découvert son don. Il fonda alors avec ses amis scouts l’orchestre Nyampinga avec lequel il enregistra 3 albums.
En 1985, il quitte l’orchestre pour enregistrer son album solo “Tegeka isi”. En 1988 il fait une tournée dans certains pays africains. En 1990, il a continué sa carrière au Burundi (ou il enregistre l’album “Bahizi heza”) d’abord et Uganda ensuite. En 1993 il a fait une tournée européenne, il a enregistré “Twararutashye” à Bruxelles. En 1995, il a sorti “Kenyera inkindi y”ubuzima”, en 1996 “Mutima w”urugo” est sorti et “Ubaha ikiremwa muntu” en 1997. Son troisième album “Abaana” a été lancé en avril 2003.

As an Ambassador for Peace, Jean Paul Samputu will travel to Kenya for the ‘Peace Building Initiative’ organised by World Vision Canada and World Vision Kenya. Kenya has recently experienced violence and turmoil due to the recent tensions following the elections. The Rwandan artist will spend 8 days visiting refugee camps, meet with youth groups and inter-religious leaders, speak on radio and television. He will have the opportunity to speak to several crowds in the tens of thousands his message of ‘Forgiveness, a Step to Reconciliation’. This is a model for Africans to bring hope to other Africans. The Rwandan experience will benefit other countries to avoid any future atrocities.
This is good for Rwanda to see that from a horrible story, great things can emerge: from bad to good; from suffering to hope: from war to peace.
Samputu will begin the tour in Nairobi on the 28th of July and will leave August 5th to perform in Calgary, Alberta, Canada at the Afrikadey Festival.
